the best mysterious place

By Kevin Macneil Brown

the best mysterious place just a mile from home

as the hawk flies – I mean fast like that–and
the white pine woods speak a different language, the
fields sing with other colors not quite known or named.
And there is
a gatepost to all this almost lost in
the shimmer-haze of rising sun over
cold mountain shiver-shadow.
